Working out an exact age by hand is surprisingly fiddly — months have different lengths, leap years add a day, and it's easy to be off by one. This calculator does it instantly: type a date of birth and you get the precise age in years, months, and days, along with a handful of extra figures people often want. Everything is worked out in your browser, so the dates you enter never leave your device.

A date of birth is personal information, and there's no reason to send it anywhere just to count the days. Here nothing is uploaded and nothing is stored — the numbers appear the moment you type, and they're gone when you close the tab.

How exact age is calculated

The everyday way to state an age is "X years, Y months, and Z days." To get there, the tool counts the complete years from the birth date up to the target date, then the remaining whole months, then the leftover days. When the day of the month hasn't been reached yet, it borrows the correct number of days from the previous month — which is why the answer stays right across February, 30-day months, and 31-day months alike.

Leap years are handled automatically. Someone born on 29 February simply has their birthday counted on the correct date each year, and in non-leap years the next-birthday figure rolls to the following valid day. All the date maths is done in UTC so a daylight-saving change can never add or drop a day.
